 AUGUST PROGRAM: THE FOUR SEASONS

 

This August at Minitown, Nanny Boppins invites you on a delightful journey through The Four Seasons! Each Tuesday, children and their carers will explore the wonder and magic of the changing seasons through storytelling, music, dance, and hands-on craft activities. Starting with an introduction to the year’s weather cycle, we’ll then dive deeper into Autumn, Winter, and Spring - celebrating falling leaves, snowy fun, and blooming flowers. This free, interactive program is perfect for under school-aged children, offering joyful learning experiences and imaginative play outside Big W, every Tuesday during the school term from 10–11am. No bookings required – just come along and join the seasonal fun!

 

Tuesday 5th August

The Four Seasons

This week at Minitown, Nanny Boppins will be covering the four seasons of the year – Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. Join in for a beautiful overview of the flow of the weather throughout the year, where the children will enjoy songs, dances, story and craft whilst learning about the changing weather as it ebs and flows through time. This introduction will be followed by a more in-depth look into individual seasons throughout the following weeks of August as we look forward to welcoming Spring next month.

 

Tuesday 12th August

Autumn

Nanny Boppins will be enjoying the beauty of Autumn this week with colours of red, orange and golden-brown leaves falling from the trees. Join in learning the Rain Dance, count the autumn leaves as they fall from the trees and enjoy creating an autumn collage at the craft table. We may even light the pretend campfire if it’s cold enough! We’ll look at the Weather Chart and learn about the season of Autumn. 


Tuesday 19th August

Winter Fun

Nanny Boppins loves building a snowman! If you enjoy all things winter and snowy and perhaps even frozen, then bring your ice-skates along to Minitown this week and join in the wintery fun. We’ll be scrunching and throwing snowballs (out of paper of course), warming up with the Winter Hokey Pokey and enjoying a fun wintery craft activity at the craft table. Perfect imaginary and engaged play for under school aged children and their carers, you can join Nanny Boppins outside Big W, each Tuesday through the school term, 10-11am. 

 

Tuesday 26th August

Spring is on It’s Way!

As the weather warms up, so do our Minitown Sessions as we burst into Spring over the next week. Nanny Boppins will be celebrating sunshine, blooming flowers, new life and all that comes with Spring. Join us for a lovely session as we finish our month of learning about the Seasons. You can enjoy a flowery craft activity this week and lots of musical activities, smiles with friends! A free educational, engaging and entertaining program for under school aged children and their carers, 10-11am each Tuesday – no bookings required.

Join us for a very special NAIDOC WEEK Mini session with Uncle Perry! On Wednesday 5th July, Uncle Perry will be sharing his cultural heritage with our minis for a very special NAIDOC WEEK celebration. Enjoy a craft session afterwards. During the mini session Uncle Perry will; Play Traditional and contemporary solo didgeridoo sounds and rhythms. demonstrate how we make animal sounds, rhythms and beats by using Aboriginal language while playing didgeridoo Traditional name ( Yidaki ) Educate where the didgeridoo originates from, Arnhem Land. What the didgeridoo is used for, what it is made of. Introduce Traditional dance moves and encourage participation from children as they learn a dance called SPECIAL LAND Perry Fuller is from Kamilaroi Country (Coonabarabran). He is an accomplished didgeridoo (yidaki) player who has been playing for over 10 years. Perry is very active in NAIDOC festivities in Newcastle and surrounding schools.
